Ayano Shigematsu won the special prize for the best performance after 1950
composed work at the “International Louis Spohr Competition for Young Violinists”, and studied Master study of "Interpretation Contemporary Music" at University of Music Freiburg.
As a member of ensemble particle, Ayano has worked with members of Ensemble Recherche and participated in courses with Ensemble Modern. In 2023, they worked as an assistant concertmaster with the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra. In 2024, they had the honor of performing Toccatina by Helmut Lachenmann in the presence of the composer. They premiered pieces by more than 50 composers, including commissioned work for Rino Murakami, Michiru Nakamura, Noel Hiyamizu, Joey Tan, and Maximiliano A. Soto Mayorga, Sebastián Zuleta, So-Jeong Yoo and Daiko Fujikawa.
As a historical violinist, Ayano is interested not only in historically informed performance but also in the performance of contemporary music on historical instruments such as the Baroque violin, as well as in the handling of historical instruments and their effective use.
